Dev&#8217;t"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Agriculture Department in the District\nshall: <ul><li>participate\nin provision of extension services in the areas of natural resources\nmanagement, and rural infrastructural and small scale irrigation in the\ndistrict; <\/li><\/ul><ul><li>assist\nin the formulation and implementation of agricultural policy for the District\nAssembly within the framework of national policies; <\/li><\/ul><ul><li>submit\nreport on the implementation of policies and programmes to the <\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>District Assembly; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>advise\nthe District Assembly on matters related to agricultural development in the\ndistrict; <ul><li>promote\nextension services to farmers; <\/li><\/ul><ul><li>assist\nand participate in on-farm adaptive research; <\/li><\/ul><ul><li>lead\nthe collection of data for analysis on cost effective farming enterprises; <\/li><\/ul><ul><li>participate\nin the education and enforcement of legislation on fisheries; (i)\npromote the formation of viable fishermen associations and assist in fish\nfarming; <\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>promote soil and water conservation measures by\nthe appropriate agricultural technology; <\/li><li>disseminate and adopt improved soil and water\nconservation methods; (l) promote agro-forestry development to reduce the\nincidence of bush fires; <\/li><li>promote\nan effective and integrated water management; <\/li><li>assist\nand facilitate sustained pasture and forage production and act as out grower to\nfarmers; <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>(0) assist development of animal health\nservices infrastructure; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>facilitate\nthe development, operation and maintenance of livestock water supplies; <\/li><li>assist\nin developing forage production, ranges and farmlands; <\/li><li>encourage\nimprovement in livestock breeds; <\/li><li>assist\nin developing early warning systems on animals diseases; (t)\nfacilitate and encourage vaccination and immunization of livestock and control\nof animal diseases; <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>(u) advise and encourage crop development through\nnursery propagation; (v) assist in the development, rehabilitation and\nmaintenance of small scale irrigation schemes; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>facilitate\nthe assessment of the economic, financial and environmental viability of\nproviding canals; <\/li><li>assist\nthe construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of fish landing sites; <\/li><li>promote\nagro-processing and storage; <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>(i) facilitate the development of programmes and the establishment\nof close linkage between the various sub-sectors in the district; (ii)\nsupervise the agricultural extension staff in the field; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>co-ordinate\nthe systematic and regular training of frontline staff; <ul><li>monitor\nand evaluate projects; <\/li><\/ul><ul><li>promote\ninvestment in agriculture by assisting to identify and prepare pre-feasibility\nreports; <\/li><\/ul><ul><li>develop\nproposal writing capacity at the district level; <\/li><\/ul><ul><li>facilitate\ncapacity building at the district level through training, workshops and other\nrelated activities;
