The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) identifies flood-prone areas, sensitized community members and identifies ways to mitigate and respond to disaster within the East Mamprusi Municipality_2026.

Updates

Following the heavy rain on Sunday 28th June, 2026 The Municipal NADMO Director and his team paid a visit to some flood prone areas in the Nalerigu township. The regional capital of the North East region. The team advised the public to keep gutters clear by stopping indiscriminate waste disposal, that is to put trash in dustbins instead of throwing it into drains.

The NADMO Director and his team warns that throwing rubbish into gutters blocks water flow. When it rains, this blockage forces water to flood homes and puts lives at risk. They advise communities to organize communal labor to clear blockages and desilt drains. This removes sand and trash before heavy downpours. NADMO warns citizens and businesses to stop building shops or homes directly on waterways or in drainage paths.

Below are some homes and school roof breach or destroyed during the recent wind uplift/ storm damage by the flood.

The NADMO Director and his officers visited Nobya Fm/TV station after the recent fire outbreak that ravaged their outfit to evaluate the extent of the damage and identify measures to mitigate.

The NADMO team conducts tour to inspect the Nalerigu dam infrastructure, the technical works ongoing at the banks and educates downstream residents on early warning signs.
